Seventy-five wineries along with 750 winegrowers farming nearly 100,000 acres of winegrapes makes the Knowlton Gallery in Lodi, California, the perfect spot for an early autumn watercolor adventure. Vineyards, grapes and fine vintages will provide the inspiration and the subject matter for a three-day focused workshop covering the fundamentals.
We’ll practice technique and explore the visual language of color, design and composition, while working with vibrant color triads. Our economical approach includes using a limited palette with an eye toward transparency, offering a foolproof way to mix color without making making mud.
Our classroom is inside the Knowlton Gallery where we will be surrounded by fine art as we explore each concept with demonstration, slides, examples and plenty of hands-on practice. We’ll take a day to spend painting plein aire on location at the scenic Heritage Oak Winery along the banks of the Mokelumne River.
Experienced students will be able to concentrate on composition, technical skills and color development. Beginners will enjoy a comprehensive introduction to this expressive medium in a positive and supportive learning environment.
